Auto-discovery
If you do not know the exact feed URL, enter the website URL and Ingestics will automatically find the RSS feed. Ingestics looks for <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml"> tags in the page HTML.
Supported feed formats
- RSS 2.0 — The most common format. Uses
<item>elements. - RSS 1.0 (RDF) — Older format. Uses
<rdf:li>elements. - Atom — Modern format. Uses
<entry>elements with richer content.
Ingestics auto-detects the feed format and parses it accordingly.
Full-text extraction
By default, RSS feeds include only a summary or truncated content. Ingestics can fetch the full article from the source page using a readability algorithm. This extracts the complete article text, images, and formatting.
Full-text extraction is enabled by default and works with most news sites, blogs, and content platforms. You can disable it if you prefer to use the feed summary.
Feed fields
Standard RSS feed fields available for mapping:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| title | Article title |
| description | Summary or excerpt |
| content | Full content (if available in feed) |
| link | Source URL (used for duplicate detection) |
| author | Article author |
| pubDate | Publication date |
| categories | Feed categories/tags |
| guid | Unique identifier (used for dedup) |
Duplicate detection
Ingestics prevents importing the same feed item twice using multiple methods:
- Source URL — Most reliable. If the same URL has been imported, the item is skipped.
- External ID — Uses the feed’s GUID when available.
- Title — Fallback method. Checks for existing posts with the same title.
On the Pro edition and above, Ingestics also skips unchanged items: if a feed item has not been modified since the last fetch, it is skipped.
OPML import and export (Lite+)
Import and export feed configurations using OPML files:
- Import — Add dozens of feeds at once from an OPML file exported by Feedly, Inoreader, or any RSS reader
- Export — Backup your feed configuration or share it with team members
RSS moderation queue (Pro+)
Instead of publishing immediately, fetched items can be placed in a moderation queue. Review, edit, approve, or reject each item before it goes live. This is ideal for curated content sites where quality control matters.
RSS library (Lite+)
Ingestics includes a curated library of popular RSS feeds organized by category. Browse the library, preview feeds, and add them to your site with one click.
