Publishing Controls
Control how Ingestics publishes fetched content to WordPress.
Publish modes
Configure how imported items are published:
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Draft | Save as draft for review before publishing |
| Pending | Save as pending review for editor approval |
| Publish | Publish immediately |
You can set a different publish mode per provider. This is useful when you want some providers to publish automatically and others to require review.
Author assignment
Assign imported posts to a specific WordPress user. Options:
- Fixed author — All posts from a provider are assigned to a specific user
- Source author — Use the author name from the feed or API (creates a new user if it does not exist)
- Default admin — Assign to the site admin
Categories and tags
Assign categories and tags to imported posts:
- Fixed categories/tags — Assign specific categories or tags to all posts from a provider
- Mapped categories — Map source categories to WordPress categories
- Keyword rules (Pro+) — Automatically assign categories based on content keywords
- Dynamic creation (Lite+) — Create new categories from source feed categories
Featured images
Ingestics automatically downloads and sets featured images for imported posts:
- If the source includes an image URL, Ingestics sideloads it and sets it as the featured image
- If no image is available, Ingestics can optionally use a fallback image (Pro+)
- On the Business edition, AI image generation can create a featured image using OpenAI gpt-image-1
- Business edition also supports Pexels stock images as fallback
Duplicate handling
Ingestics uses a sync engine to handle duplicates:
| Match By | Description | Tier |
|---|---|---|
| Source URL | Match by the original source URL | Free+ |
| External ID | Match by the source’s unique ID | Free+ |
| Title | Match by post title (fallback) | Free+ |
| Slug | Match by URL slug | Lite+ |
| Custom meta | Match by a custom field value | Lite+ |
| Unchanged skip | Skip items that have not changed since last fetch | Pro+ |
Update vs. skip
When Ingestics detects a duplicate (existing post), it can:
- Update — Update the existing post with new content from the source
- Skip — Leave the existing post unchanged
- Pro+ with unchanged skip — Skip only if the source item has not changed since last fetch
Content quality checks
Ingestics performs content quality checks before publishing:
- Empty content check — Skip items with empty content
- Minimum length check — Skip items below a configurable minimum word count
- Blocked keywords (Business) — Skip items containing blocked keywords
- Duplicate title check — Skip items with titles that match existing posts
Provider-level publish mode (Business)
On the Business edition, each provider can have its own publish mode, author, categories, and tags. This is useful when importing from diverse sources that require different treatment.
