Content Mapping
Map source fields (API response or RSS feed) to WordPress post fields with Ingestics.
Field mapping
For JSON APIs, use JSON-path notation to access nested fields and array elements:
title— Top-level fielddata.title— Nested object fielddata[0].title— First element of an arrayitems[*].name— All elements in an array (Pro+)metadata.author.name— Deeply nested field
Standard WordPress fields
Map source fields to these WordPress post fields:
| WordPress Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Post Title | The title of the post |
| Post Content | The main content body |
| Post Excerpt | Short summary (optional) |
| Post Status | Draft, pending, or publish |
| Post Author | WordPress user ID or source author name |
| Post Date | Publication date from source |
| Post Slug | URL slug (auto-generated if not mapped) |
| Categories | WordPress categories |
| Tags | WordPress tags |
| Featured Image | Sideloaded from source URL |
Custom fields (Lite+)
Map source fields to WordPress custom fields (post meta). This is useful for storing structured data that does not fit into standard post fields:
temperature— Store weather temperatureprice— Store product pricesku— Store product SKUsource_url— Store original URL for attribution
ACF integration (Pro+)
On the Pro edition and above, Ingestics can map source fields directly to Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) fields. This supports all ACF field types including text, textarea, number, select, repeater, and flexible content.
Rank Math and Yoast SEO (Pro+)
Map source fields to SEO plugin fields:
- Rank Math: meta title, meta description, focus keyword, canonical URL
- Yoast SEO: meta title, meta description, focus keyword
Template builder (Lite+)
Use the Post Template Builder to construct post content from multiple source fields:
<h2>{{ title }}</h2>
<p>By {{ author }} — {{ pubDate }}</p>
<div>{{ content }}</div>
<p><em>Source: <a href="{{ link }}">{{ source_name }}</a></em></p>The template builder supports placeholders for all mapped fields and provides a live preview.
Twig templates (Business)
On the Business edition, you can use Twig template syntax for advanced content construction:
{% if author %}By {{ author }}{% endif %}
{{ content | raw }}
{% if tags %}
Tags: {% for tag in tags %}{{ tag }}{% if not loop.last %}, {% endif %}{% endfor %}
{% endif %}Twig supports conditionals, loops, filters, and variables — giving you full control over content formatting.
Category and taxonomy mapping
Map source categories to WordPress categories or tags:
- Direct mapping — Source category name maps directly to a WordPress category
- Keyword rules (Pro+) — Define ordered keyword-to-category/tag rules. If an article contains certain keywords, it is assigned to the corresponding category.
- Dynamic mapping (Lite+) — Automatically create categories from feed source categories
Source attribution
Ingestics automatically stores the source URL for each imported post in a custom field (_aapi_source_url). This is used for:
- Duplicate detection (prevents importing the same item twice)
- Source attribution display
- Canonical URL configuration (Pro+)
